East Nashville Magnet Middle School 8th graders studied Red Grooms and one point perspective with Ms. Bellgardt. Red Groom’s Looking up Broadway, Again! was the focus of a Paideia seminar that helped the students focus on the main ideas behind the painting. The students used photographs of Nashville city scenes to inspire them to create uniquely Nashville cities in one point perspective.

Hermitage Elementary:
At Hermitage Elementary, we are working towards a giant city installation in the showcase corner. Each grade level is taking responsibility for one part of the installation.
The 2nd graders used pencils and watercolors to create 2 of the same car. After completion, they put small paper loops in between their cars to give depth enough for the cars to stand. To cover up the loops, we used a strip of paper, and wrote words about the city, attaching it over the loops. We looked at Red Grooms’ “NYC Taxi” for our inspiration.
