Andrew Jackson Elementary

2nd grade 3-D self-portraits

Students created their self-portraits and cut them out. Once finished, they thought about a special place and drew the backgroud for their self portraits. Using cardboard pieces, they created a 3-D look by gluing the cardboard in stacks of 2 or more to the back of their self-portraits and then to their backgrounds.

Media used: markers, crayons, colored pencils, glue, scissors, cardboard

Kindergarten created and colored their self-portraits through a guided lesson. They then created and painted their backgrounds. When their backgrounds were dry, they cut out their self-portraits and glued them to their backgrounds.

Media used: Crayons, Pencils, Tempera Cakes, Scissors, Glue

4th Grade Pillow Self-Portraits

Students began by drawing their self-portraits on a large sheet of paper. They then transferred their artwork to a piece of fabric pre-cut for them. Most of the students traced their previous drawings. Once finished they used fabric markers and fabric crayons to color their self portraits. Once the pillows were sewn by a volunteer, the students were able to stuff their own pillow. Then they were sewn up to finish the pillow. The students really enjoyed their pillows!

Media used: Pencils, Fabric Markers, Fabric Pencils, Pillow Stuffing
